Seasons Beatings?!

No, no, no, I'm not advocating any kind of violence towards others during the holiday season (even though you might have some dangerous thoughts while all of your family is starting in on their fifth Christmas carol round the piano). "Season's Beatings" is the name of a Yuletide events chart for Strange Aeons . You can download it, as well as two holiday-themed scenarios, over at www.strange-aeons.ca in their Resources section. I've also linked directly to them below, but head over there anyway. There's a lot of other good stuff to see too! - Season's Beatings - Nightmare on 34th Street - Christmas With Krampus I'll shamefully confess that I have not played either of these scenarios, nor have I used the event chart. However, I was reminded of them after receiving some holiday gaming goodness from jolly old Uncle Mike. As I was going through all those lovely resin bits, I remembered my Black Goat special Maniac Santa figure! I had meant to paint ...

Strange Aeons Game Night: Menace of the Depths

Uncle Mike and James dropped by Trilogy again last night, on their regularly scheduled 2nd-Thursday-of-the-Month visit for Strange Aeons . As per usual they brought along some beautiful hand-crafted scenery, as well as lots of lavishly painted miniatures. Of particular note was the new giant fishman model. I had seen this figure before a few weeks back but we hadn't tried using it in a game until tonight. Also, as a member of the Cult of the Black Goat, I was very happy to receive my free submerged monster model. Mike brought a cast of the full-sized beastie for me as well, which looks amazing. It's huge, very well sculpted and the cast is super-clean. I have a feeling it will be jumping into my painting queue pretty soon. With the Calgary Expo coming up in a few weeks Mike and I played through their demo scenario twice. I have to say, the board and scenery looked top notch, as per usual. Oh and the game scenario was pretty damn fun too. The basic gist is that the Lurke...

Strange Aeons at Fallcon

The fine folks from Uncle Mike's Worldwide and Trilogy Gaming Club will be co-hosting a tournament of Strange Aeons on Saturday night at Fallcon 2012 . There will be four or five boards set up for demos and tournament play; some of which, if the rumors are true, are brand-spanking-new custom creations of the diabolical Uncle Mike himself. I'll be there representing the congregants of the Cult of the Black Goat , providing demos for new players and death, destruction and mayhem to all those pesky Threshold Agents. If you'll be in the Calgary on Saturday September 29th, 2012 drop by the convention (see the Fallcon link for venue details) any time between 8 pm and 12 midnight to join in the dark deeds! Hey...Wanna Join a Cult?

Since I started playing Strange Aeons I've had a chance to meet some new players, play some fun games, build and paint some great miniatures, meet the game's creators and even beta test some new rules with them.  I've had a lot of fun with Strange Aeons in the past two months, and I don't expect that to abate any time too soon. Unless you count washing all those blood and entrails-stained robes of the more senior cultists (they are an untidy bunch). That's right, I've joined a cult.  Wouldn't my folks be proud! In actuality "The Cult of the Black Goat" isn't a cult at all, so don't go freaking out and think I've turned to the dark side.  Truth be told that bridge was crossed long ago and none of my so-called friends seemed interested in stopping my descent, so here we are.  Want some red kool-aid, there's plenty to go around... Black Goat membership simply involves signing up with Uncle Mike's Worldwide.  You give t...
