July 2015 Progress Report

Hobby seemed to take a bit of a back seat through July. I split my time amongst five projects, which is a quite few more than I'd promised myself I would work on. Here's what happened in my hobby realms...with far fewer photos than I'd like! The first thing I recall finishing in July was actually painting my MDF DreadBall pitch from start to finish. You can read more about that by clicking here . Stuff built for Batman Miniatures Game : - Black Canary and Batgirl - Victor Zsasz and Arkham Inmates set (4) - Titan Bane - Blackgate Prisoners set I (4) - Blackgate Prisoners set II for BMG (4) When I bought my Terminator Genisys starter set I built them the same day. This month I put some basing material on them and got everything primed in black. Although not fully complete I've painted all the endoskeletons (15) who simply lack a few finishing touches. We even had a chance to play through a few games. I may or may not do some kind of game recap or review...

May 2015 Progress Report

With all the hobby and gaming stuff arriving lately I've been trying to find ways to keep myself motivated. The mountain of 'stuff to do' keeps growing at a rate faster than I can manage. Keeping that in mind I started keeping track of the stuff I am accomplishing each month. A lot like working out, writing down what you did can help one maintain focus as you move forward. May Progress Report - Painted Martian Dreadball team (this included building 2 custom players out of the Mars Attacks wounded markers) - Built two packs of gas lamp posts for Batman Miniature Game - Stripped and began repainting base game figures for Guardians Chronicles - Stripped and fully repainted Heroclix Vindicator (Heather Hudson) - Painted "strumpet" figure from Reaper Bones line - Built Commissioner Gordon GCPD starter (4 figures) - Built Corrupt Cops GCPD starter (4 figures) - Fixed massively busted UNA Fire Toad for AT-43 - Built second token pack for  Batman Miniature Ga...

Quick AT-43 Report

I realize I haven't posted much in the last little while. I've got several things written out, but haven't taken the pictures to go with them. One group of items has been waiting on flocking to be done for several weeks and I've simply not bothered to sit down for the 10 minutes I'd need to finish that. However, I did have a chance to play a game of AT-43  last night, UNA vs Red Blok. We decided to play on the maps from the starter box, using two put together to give us some corridors and opportunities to use some close combat troopers. I had brought my Red Blok army box with a few other bits stuffed in, which turned out to be a good thing. With the close quarters of the maps I wouldn't be able to use the Dotch Yaga, as it wouldn't even be able to enter the map, let alone be able to move anywhere. So I swapped it out for a Nakovalny and another smaller squad of Kastnye Soldaty. If memory serves my list was: - Urod w/ Odin & Manon - Nakovalny - 12...

Huge 9000 Point AT-43 Game!

On Wednesday evening I played my first three-player game of AT-43 . Each of the players put together an army list of 3000 points: Karmans, Red Blok and UNA/ONI. I had to use the ONI as mercenaries because I didn't bring enough UNA forces to fill out a list of that size. I was expecting to play at maybe  2000 points. I had also missed a few figures from some of my infantry when I was getting my stuff to bring, so I had to field incomplete squads of fighters in several of them. I don't have an exact list, here's an approximate list of what I played: - Steel Troopers x9 w/ a missile launcher and MSgt - Wing Troopers x9 w/ a missile launcher and Sgt - Shock Troopers x9 w/ grenades and Sgt - Zombies (alpha?) x12 w/ medics & mortar guns x2, and Samurai - Death Dealer TacArms x3 - Steel TacArms x3 - Zombie TacArms beta x3 - Bokor w/ Vlad We set up the table with an improvised scenario. The MedTec were stranded (placed in the middle of the table) and all of the arm...

A Little AT-43

I've been filling out armies and adding more to my growing collection of AT-43  miniatures. Last weekend I picked up some Red Blok  models and a few army books from another local gamer. Also included in that batch of stuff were some UNA  Death Dealer TacArms. I quite like the TacArm models, but had never seen the Death Dealers and was keen to give them a try! One of the things that I had trouble wrapping my head around was the army structures being different for each faction. So I decided that I'd sit down and put together a list using the Death Dealer TacArms platoon structure, which is as follows: ! Unit of Death Dealer TacArms • Unit of soldiers (*/**) • Unit of soldiers (*/**) • Unit of striders (**) • Unit of striders (**) Deciding on 1500AP netted me a platoon of 3x Death Dealer TacArms, 9x Steel Troopers w/ grenades and two missile launchers, 2x Fire Toads with Captain Newton commanding, and 9x Wing Troopers with a Master Sergeant. Rick decided to pl...

Birthday Haul (Sorta)

I arrived home from a vacation a little while back and smartly enough, I had booked a couple of extra days off so that I could recover from any possible jet-lag. Also, I really didn't feel like going to work on my birthday. I had to run some errands in the morning, and on my way home I decided to stop in at Revolution Games to pick up some goodies. I figured I might as well get a present I knew I'd like for myself, just in case! I didn't end up with any new games, but did find plenty of expansions. I haven't played any of them yet, but I really hope to do so soon! My aunt also dropped in from out of town while I was post-vacationing. I had shipped some stuff to her place to save some postage fees during the past year. I was also planning go to pick it up myself, but hadn't been able to make the timing work. I'd forgotten just how much stuff was waiting for me. It was like Christmas all over again (or more birthday presents), once again courtesy of my own...

Gaming Round Up!

Man oh man I sooooo don't need to buy any new stuff, but I keep doing it anyway. On the plus side, I've actually been playing a bunch of my games. Played my 2nd round exhibition match for our new Dreadball league. It was the Etherian Horde vs. the Broadstreet Bullies. Another game that went into OT, another win for me. I just can't earn enough cash to buy a seventh player, so I opted for another coaching die. Not a great investment, but it feels better than just having cash as part of my roster. Wrapping up a week of work before the Family Day weekend, I wrangled some co-workers into a lunch-time game of Lords of Waterdeep . They all really enjoyed it, and I only won by 3 points! I'm looking forward to getting that game on the table again. During the long weekend had the first game of AT-43 using my Cogs army box and a few boosters. We played 3000 points against Karmans. I'm considering adding a few more squads to my army, because having so many heroes in th...

Dead Games and New(ish) Games

Part 1: More New Sh...er Stuff Two more packages showed up last week. Both unassuming little parcels shipping via Royal Mail. With all the  Kickstarter  campaigns I've supported lately they could have been any number of things. It turns out these are the shipments for season 3 of  Dreadball  and the one and only package for  Empire of the Dead: Requiem . I've had a chance to go through the  Dreadball  stuff in detail and everything I ordered was included minus a few extras. The packing manifest and included note explained why they were missing and I'm fine with it. I know they'll be sent out to me as soon as possible. Besides, I have so much Dreadball stuff to work on now the extra few missing bits won't even be noticed for a few months at the very least! The very next day another box was waiting. Once again I was stumped as to what it could be...there didn't seem to be a return address on it anywhere. I did find the little sticker on the side af...
