First In-House Ban

After a lot of deliberation, discussion and debate, I've decided to add our first card to the banned list; MEV-134 Blink, Earth-295 - Clarice Ferguson.
This card will no longer be legal for play in scheduled tournament events run by me at Trilogy. The reason behind this decision is simple: I think that this card is far more powerful than the designers intended, and would remain so even with errata'd text.

Wow first in-house banned Card. Will will be disappointed that he didn't build a deck with her yet.

I don't see the need to ban blink, considering that no one in our play group plays an abusive exiles build. Also, that is the only version of the three drop blink, so now its stupid to make a blink legend. I also think that other version of exiles cannot be played effectively, as they need extra resources to pay for effects. And honestly, I think that Blink was never the problem with exiles, it was cards like Mariko or Sasquatch that needed fixing.

i do agree with jon.

i also do think that if you make it a "when she comes into play effect" then it'd be a lot less powerful and fair.

I understand Charles current position on this. He was waiting for the "council" to do something about it but they are stalling and the options they've come up with aren't really that great. I hope that they come up with something that is fair and still allows her to be played. Maybe then Charles will change it from a ban to an errata.

Mariko and Sage only have amazing effects when you have large amounts of shift counters to play with. Blink is the enabler for most of of that counter generation. In the past it was extremely difficult to even get a single extra resource point. Blink handing them out like candy breaks the fundamental mechanic of 1-resource-per-turn. Without Blink, those effects become manageable.

So while I realize no one plays an abusive build in our group, the window is there for it to be done. Unless the council comes up with something better, she stays banned.
